Hi. My system is an AMD Ryzen 3 1200, originally bought as a temporary CPU. I overclocked it with the stock cooler to reach 3.7 GHz at 1.3V, but during Prime95 load testing the temperature rose to 85 degrees. The idle temps are around 45-49 degrees. Are these levels acceptable or should I reduce the voltage?

The optimal heat level is quite high for your CPU. Since the Ryzen 3 is a cost-effective processor, it's wise to ensure the temperature during operation doesn't go beyond 80 degrees. Consider reducing the voltage as well. Also, verify the fan speed while making these adjustments.

When I monitor the temperature while playing, it reaches a peak of 76 degrees. That seems acceptable for the stock cooler. In fact, I experienced 85-86 degrees during intensive use with prime95. Under typical conditions it remains under 80 degrees.

I believe gaming at 76 is acceptable, but it varies based on the duration you spend playing. Please share how much CPU strain you experience during gaming, as well as your fan speed while using both components.

When you're operating on stock cooler, that's the main reason. Usually the system will stop or crash before facing a heat-related problem right away. If it's a short-term fix and you're not experiencing issues, you probably don't need to be too concerned.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I wasn't around for a while.
I played games for 2 to 3 hours in a row, keeping the fan speed in smart mode. It seems to be around 60-70% at that temperature.
This is just a temporary fix and I'll get the 3600 soon.
