I increased my AMD FX-6100 to 4.2 GHz and it operates between 68-72°C. I'm unsure if this temperature is excessive or if lowering it to 4.1 would help. Also, I'm using a CM Hyper 212 X, which might contribute to the heat generation.

Heat tends to rise and that's generally what happens with most motherboards... I often try to increase my CPU temperature and, when feasible, move my GPU heat away from the main area using the fan bay.

It looks quite high... A typical temperature should be around 60-65°C maximum. At least you invested in your sink, but it might still be too warm. I think a detailed online search could provide the safe operating range.

Ensure your fans are moving the video card away from the CPU... Overclocking could be too intense for the sink... or you might need to invest in higher-quality thermal paste.

Are you consuming power from the lower side or upper side because your heatsink aligns with your GPU?

Download amd overdrive to check your thermal margin, and also have an fx 6100 at 4.0 on the stock cooler. I've experienced temperatures as low as 10 degrees, which would be 60 degrees Celsius, but I believe the maximum was around 70 degrees Celsius.

nerro120 :
I downloaded amd overdrive to check my thermal margin, and I also have an fx 6100 running at 4.0 on the stock cooler. It has dropped as low as a 10-degree margin, which would be around 60 degrees Celsius, but I believe its maximum was 70 degrees Celsius. My thermal margin is currently between 3.6 to 5, which is quite poor.
