Updated my motherboard and CPU to a Ryzen 5 3600 and MSI X570 Gaming Plus functioned well after a restart until I activated an XMP profile. Boot times became very slow or jumped directly to the Windows home screen, then a black screen with a cursor appeared for a few minutes before the desktop loaded. After updating the BIOS, I ran a memtest and found no errors. The RAM setup is Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2E3200C16, 16GB. Storage includes a SSD with a 1TB drive. Any suggestions?

I share the same RAM and CPU setup, but my MSI B450 Tomahawk "Max" had slow boot times. Worse still, the PC would randomly enter BIOS on its own. If you face similar issues, consider returning or sending it back for repair. I’m currently using a B350 MSI with no problems and faster boot performance. I’m thinking about upgrading my RAM further to test if that helps. Those new motherboards seem promising but come with many risks, even for high-end models. Short version: likely worth returning, especially with the black screen concern.

Looking for suggestions on where to place these items? I'm not sure if I've tried it before, so I don't want to be caught off guard. Thanks!

This configuration is set in the default mode on AMD systems. The option is under the boot tab, labeled as UEFI. Disabling CSM will be applied. See page 54 for details. Specifics include timing values and voltage requirements.

It would be wise to start with stock timings. However, you're also allowed to experiment with it.
