After replacing the CPU, the RAM slot ceased functioning properly.
Hello! Yesterday I upgraded my CPU from an I5 6500 to an I7 6700K, the system booted up but there was no display. I swapped the RAM slots, the first one didn’t work either, so I tried the second slot with a 1x8GB stick, and it started functioning properly. Then I installed another 2x8GB stick, but the PC wouldn’t turn on. In my mind, the RAM slot seems to be faulty. I don’t have funds for a larger stick, and my games usually need 16GB of RAM. I also noticed that when the first stick was in the first slot, the motherboard displayed debug LED lights for about two seconds, then flashed to the CPU briefly before returning. With the second stick in the second slot, everything works fine. My specs include the mentioned components and I’m open to suggestions on what might be wrong. Thanks a lot!
Sure, I'll keep it simple. Next week I'll head back to the city to grab some thermal paste and see what's happening.
Additionally, I observed that Speccy displays 1064MHz RAM, whereas my previous CPU installation listed 2400MHz.
