Hello! Yesterday I upgraded my CPU from an I5 6500 to an I7 6700K, the system booted up but there was no display. I swapped the RAM slots, the first one didn’t work either, so I tried the second slot with a 1x8GB stick, and it started functioning properly. Then I installed another 2x8GB stick, but the PC wouldn’t turn on. In my mind, the RAM slot seems to be faulty. I don’t have funds for a larger stick, and my games usually need 16GB of RAM. I also noticed that when the first stick was in the first slot, the motherboard displayed debug LED lights for about two seconds, then flashed to the CPU briefly before returning. With the second stick in the second slot, everything works fine. My specs include the mentioned components and I’m open to suggestions on what might be wrong. Thanks a lot!

The process restores the system to its previous state, returning it to how it was before the 6500 was inserted.

I’m out of thermal paste—really so. Plus, the CPU fan wire was making contact with the RAM stick, which might have caused an issue.

Uncertain. It seems the component might be faulty or misplaced, or perhaps the connections were harmed during installation.

I verified the connections, everything looks good—this is where the thermal paste went wrong. I received the CPU from a reliable friend who had owned it for about six months. It performed perfectly on his system.

The only sure way to understand what's happening is to revert to your 6500 and run another test using that specific chip. This will help determine if the CPU has failed or if a second check of the pins is needed.

Sure, I'll keep it simple. Next week I'll head back to the city to grab some thermal paste and see what's happening.

Additionally, I observed that Speccy displays 1064MHz RAM, whereas my previous CPU installation listed 2400MHz.
