I've noticed a consistent drop in frame rates across all games over the past year. In TF2, backstabbing a sniper triggers sudden lag lasting about a second. In LoL, it happens during ability casting—especially since I haven't played much lately. Some said the issue was polling rates in Windows 11, but that didn't match my experience. I'm frustrated and have tried solutions before. My setup includes an Intel i7-10700F CPU, GeForce RTX 2060, and DDR4 RAM. When the lag spikes occur, the CPU temperature stays steady at 72 degrees, but the load drops sharply between 12-14%. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not much useful here... Still a solid processor. A mid-range 2060 card works fine. No motherboard listed—just the memory specs. The clock speed is 2133mhz, maybe a guess. Is it a single stick or dual channel? Power supply matters too. Case design and airflow? Cooling method and temperatures? Storage options—SSD, M.2, or HDD? Any info to guide you?

Motherboard from Micro-star International, B460M PRO-VDH WIFI (MS-7C83). Dual channel 480GB SSD, 2TB HDD. Could not locate the power supply name but found a similar model on Best Buy. Link provided: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypower-g...Id=6418152

It looks like a solid setup. The specs say memory should be 2667, and you might want to verify if your BIOS supports a frequency above 1067 MHz (2133 MT/s).

Do you have any clips for a guide on that process? Make sure you don’t touch anything related to overclocking in the BIOS.

It's not an overclocking project since it isn't an OC board. You could try boosting the dram frequency, but it should stay within Jedec limits (non-OC speeds). Follow this guide: press F2 or clear the settings when you restart to enter BIOS before Windows starts. Check for a setting named "dram frequency" or similar. Adjust the value, press F10 to save and restart. That's essentially all you need!

I would try 2666 first. Check stability. Beyond that, you'd be overclocking the memory. List it as 2666, not 2667. Sorry. I edited again—I like the setup MSI has. You can see the memory multiplier there, it would be 20x133 or 1.33 as you see it. I shifted the decimal because of the 100mhz bus frequency listed as x100.00x.

It seems the solution didn't work. Maybe I should upgrade my RAM sticks or at least laugh it off. I edited to include the video clip. My friend uses an i7-11700F and has similar issues—only Ethernet problems, no performance drops.

Even though it isn't the perfect solution, you've earned some user experience points. There are still plenty of diagnostics available—checking CPU, GPU, and storage usage to spot any sudden spikes. You might want to monitor the task manager on a second screen if possible. Your friend's computer crashing was hilarious, and I think it would have made me laugh a lot. If the PC struggles when you try Ethernet, it probably won't get good frame rates!
