There's an option in Origin under security that disallows access to your account from another computer, which means even if they have your password they need a separate code to still access your account from a different computer other than the one registered to.
Certainly, that's a solid suggestion. Everyone with an Origin account should enable login verification and update their passwords right away.
I don’t have a credit card linked to my Origin account. I typically purchase games from other places and just use the key on Origin. Still, I plan to check my password settings to prevent any issues later.
Updated my password and turned on two-step verification for my Origin account. I wasn't impacted, but it's always wise to stay alert and follow best practices.
I'm fortunate to have a pre-paid visa card for the country I'm from, and I never let it store any personal information. Over the past few years, everything has changed my perspective, making me more cautious about purchasing games online rather than on physical discs.

Well, the situation keeps deteriorating. I've been reaching out to customer support since the 24th without success. Last night I got two emails from EA. The first one expressed regret over the lack of assistance with my problem: "Because of a surge in calls and unusually long wait times, we might have missed getting through. We apologize for the trouble." The second email warned me my account was banned: "We're following up on the actions taken regarding your account. It appears a breach occurred, possibly endangering its security. Consequently, we'll lift the penalty, but to regain access you must contact http://help.ea.com/ via chat or phone." Besides the fraudulent charge on my credit card, the ban, and loss of game access, my original support ticket has been marked as closed—even though I never received direct contact. The EA complaint thread is expanding daily, with more victims emerging, some facing hundreds in unauthorized charges. Kotaku has covered the story too: http://kotaku.com/users-complain-of-fals...1676826659. If you haven't already, please update your Origin password and make sure email login verification is active.
It seems everything is just a big joke. I’m not buying their games anymore.
