If previous steps didn’t resolve the problem, I’d carefully review what I mentioned earlier. I wouldn’t rush into a complete system reinstall unless it seems like only one folder is being restricted. If you’re not comfortable working with an active Linux USB drive, that might be your safest option. Still, without understanding the root cause, it’s hard to act effectively. Could it be that you unknowingly executed an executable during a download and that locked the directory? It’s unusual for malware to target just the downloads folder, especially if it’s a simple issue. If Whisper is correct, simply reinstalling the OS on the same storage isn’t the best approach.
