My prediction leans toward the Copy Protection nonsense. Reports suggest they rely on Safedisc protection, excluding Steam releases. It seems this approach isn’t working well, particularly with newer Windows versions.

Actually, I wasn't aware of that... We're not discussing the steam versions, but I've had them pirated, so I'm not sure... Anyway, at least it makes some sense.

The games you mentioned don’t use advanced DRM beyond checking the CD/DVD label. The pirated version worries me because I no longer trust piracy as a selfless Robin Hood figure. To verify or rule out an issue, we should compare with a genuine retail copy. Also, it might be worth noting that the app seems to act differently on newer Windows versions than it was originally designed for. I own an older game I enjoy playing occasionally; it crashes if I try to maximize the window unless I adjust it in a tricky way.

Regarding the pirate topic... I don't really care about their beliefs, but I'm short on money for games. I often prefer pirated versions, even after buying them, since some require an internet connection—even for single-player—and I don’t always have access. Plus, it’s confusing why they need the internet at all. Thanks for sharing!
