About old games
You're experiencing delays when launching older games on Windows 7, especially ones like Age of Empires 2 and Quake 4. This can be due to outdated system settings, resource management issues, or compatibility problems with newer versions of the game. If opening the game twice works fine but closing one causes another instance to start, it might indicate a conflict between processes or a misconfigured startup manager. Checking for updates, adjusting graphics settings, and ensuring proper game installation can help resolve these issues.
Are you checking your hardware setup for Windows 7? Do you have a dedicated graphics card, or is it using the built-in one? Is your processor old, and are your storage speeds adequate? Also, are you connecting an SSD or relying on a traditional hard drive?
Honestly have this issue with mount and blade war and even with it on an 860evo. I would say it's likely a bottleneck somewhere keeping it from running fast.
GPU works perfectly with drivers, but the issue lies in the games themselves. I’m not sure if a 32-bit fix will help—though I’ve played newer 32-bit titles and they run smoothly. It’s just puzzling why this happens. Here are my details: G4400 at 3.3 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 2400MHz dual channel, 7400 RPM hard drive, GTX 1050 with 2GB VRAM. Note: 7200 rpm*
However, I've got newer titles that run much faster and launch quickly, whereas the older ones take longer. It might be a compatibility problem. I'm curious why they open instantly when I run multiple copies of the same game.
Really, it's hard to say for sure about the last one. I understand what you were saying about games running slower compared to newer ones. My games start loading super quickly on my EVO and often open up right away. Still, Mount and Blade and older titles take around three minutes, which is roughly the speed my hard drive could handle back then.
