A very thin and lightweight operating system?
Hello everyone. I'm searching for a super-light Linux distribution that's just for browsing the web. Ideally, it should support only a few tabs in Firefox, maybe a couple with high-resolution images and a 1080p YouTube stream. My old Asus X200CA has a Celeron 1007u processor, 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM (speed not specified), and a 120GB SSD. There are many options out there, but I'm not sure which one fits my needs. I don't want anything heavy like Ubuntu, which came with the system. I need a minimal OS for just one purpose. I have about a month and a half to explore different distros. Thanks.
I don’t want to switch everything to a Chromebook. I’ve worked with Androidx86 before—it’s fine, but not exactly what I need. Appreciate the advice!
Consider Debian paired with LXDE or XFCE as the desktop. Alternatively, BunsenLabs Linux could be a good option—it’s Debian-derived and comes with Openbox pre-installed, which is known for being lightweight.
Other options include sparkylinux or solid x/l, while xfce/lxde/lxqt offers a lighter desktop experience. For pure web browsing, https://porteus-kiosk.org works well.
