MX-Linux is an awesome distro that is very functional and very lightweight, based on Debian. I'm an avid distro hopper, and I really enjoyed this one in particular. Check it out here: https://www.distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mx

Xubuntu is an Ubuntu variant running XFCE as its desktop environment. It offers a responsive feel, straightforward navigation, and starts with just 600MB of memory.

Besides other solid suggestions, I also suggest Lubuntu. The desktop environment (LXDE/LXQT) it comes with is naturally lightweight.

I haven't tried these distributions personally, but they're all based on Ubuntu and use lightweight desktop environments. They seem quite straightforward to operate.
