my monitor drops down to about twenty-four hertz and you'll see a red line on the screen.

so does the same line show up on both screens? If yes, then maybe neither of them has it. Can you download and run Driverview from this site: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html All it does is check which drivers are already installed; it won't install anything (that's by design because third party driver fixers often get things wrong). When you open it, go to the view tab and set it to hide all Microsoft drivers, that will make the list shorter. Can you take a screenshot showing both the Driver name and the Creation date? Upload that picture to an image sharing site like Google Photos or Imgur and paste the link here. Then I can look closely to see if something obvious is wrong.

Here you go. I think it's weird because on Windows 10, my computer used to act fine. When I tried a clean install of Windows 11, the problem came back right away. I even turned off all other apps (the clean boot option) and still get this same error message. I also looked at a forum post where someone else had the exact same issue with their cursor disappearing or behaving weirdly: https://forums.

Update: If I turn off one monitor, the line disappears completely. It doesn't matter which one I use to fix this issue (maybe that's why it never happens in safemode). When both monitors are turned on at the same time, then the problem appears (it happens with both of them). Both monitors have the same 60hz refresh rate and resolution as their default settings and display size. So it's not about having different rates or resolutions.

This sounds familiar So the Buggy Mouse Cursor with Dual Monitor Set up and an AMD ATI GPU is back? - Microsoft Q&A After 4 years, it is back. It kind of looks like the very top of the mouse pointer duplicated multiple times below, to look like one vertical line with diagonal lines coming off it. This usually only occurs on one monitor at a time, with an ATI… answers.microsoft.com << this is Microsoft its been a thing for 9 years at least. I don't know if its a windows bug or an AMD one. I also don't have an answer for it as its been the same for at least 10 years so its never happened on a big enough scale for either of the 2 companies involved to fix it. its not 1st time AMD drivers have broken cursor, this was a different problem from 10 years ago - https://superuser.com/questions/590...n-...on-hd-7870 or it could be the same problem… it is hard to tell.

it seems this glitch keeps coming up with AMD. They probably won't patch it because it's happening way too often. It doesn't look like a bad computer part is missing; turning on those cursor trails actually fixes the issue. I guess I'll just get used to having bugs happen again and again.

Another thing: one screen uses HDMI and the other uses DisplayPort. I don't know if this causes anything, even though I tried turning off both screens and only keeping one on. The glitch still happens when just one is active. Maybe having both HDMI and DisplayPort together is the cause? I'm going to buy a new monitor soon that has a DisplayPort and see if that solves it.

I just have one monitor and I can't test it myself to see if this affects me. It's not a piece of hardware because people keep swapping out cards but the problem is still there. Even though it looks like hardware, it only happens when you use an AMD card. But it seems like either the drivers aren't right or it was baked into the screen from the start. I couldn't figure out if using different cables would help. Maybe it could. Does this show up in screenshots? Or does it only appear on videos of the screen? If it shows on pictures, then it's probably a GPU issue. If it only shows on videos, maybe the screen itself is broken.

I tried using Windows recorder, but it doesn't show up. It was working while I recorded, but not on the saved video file. That is strange because when both screens are turned on at the same time, it shows in both places. However, if there is only one screen enabled, it does not happen. This could be happening with either HDMI or DisplayPort connection.
