Alteriwnet remains active today. There are several solid mods available for Mw2, including texture packs and graphical enhancements. You might find improvements in visuals compared to older versions, especially with newer hardware like the 780.

It's regrettable. I tried this game on a PS3 when it launched, and it was a great experience. If it cost $5 on PC, I’d likely buy it, though Activision has been very limited in its releases.
