In my last post i had this issue with a 7800XT and found a temporary workaround, however, the vendor OK'd a refund the next day and with the 9070XT's release, i got greedy. Ordered the new GPU and the same issue now plagues me (with a slight change, screen freezes and stays that way until i hold the power button for a reboot). Getting to the point of just quitting PC gaming altogether honestly. Old post: Specs: AMD 7950X3D XFX 9070XT Mercury OC Corsair Vengeance 2x32GB 6GT/s (A-XMP) Be Quiet! Power Zone 2 (1kW) ("Old" PSU was a P850GM) Tried all the fixes as the last post, with/without PBO, A-XMP, Gen 4 lanes explicitly set, HDMI/ DP, -500MHz UC, -50mV, -25% Power limit, Adrenalin as app and driver-only. Contacted local (Bournemouth, UK) repair guy and he shrugged. Recently i've contacted vendor and XFX to see if they can provide insight, waiting on responses, I'd rather not RMA again as that was completely ineffective for the 7800XT and i feel the same would probably hold here too.
Consider updating your BIOS or using a more recent version. If that doesn’t work, you may need to use an older BIOS.
Event viewer reported nothing negative. Memtest passed successfully; this RAM package is the second I've purchased as it meets the requirements for the MB. Unlike my previous setup, it was a fresh install—though tricky because I neglected to back up my VMs. The board's BIOS is current, but I still faced problems with an older BIOS from December.
Well guess what, Corsair vengeance 3200 shows up on the MSI b350 m mortar QVL. Think about the crashes over the years—like around 5 trillion WHEA errors (not a joke)… That doesn’t matter much. Side note: the system worked, but it wasn’t stable and kept getting annoying (I also had to reset CMOS each time it crashed). Eventually, it got a bit better after about three or four years. I fixed it myself by replacing B-dies. No more crashes or WHEA issues since then. Just a reminder, it can be tricky to diagnose. The ultimate takeaway if we skip Vista…
I never experienced it; I went through this in Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98 XP, Vista, 10... (My laptop has 11, but I don’t like it, even though it runs well, maybe eventually I’ll switch to Steam OS or 11 LTSC, but 11 home is really bad).
I used to run Windows versions from 1.0 up to 10, including 3.0, 3.11, 95, 98SE, 2000, XP, 7, 10. The Windows 2000 edition felt like XP but without the extra features—cleaner, faster, and super reliable. I noticed many systems would shut down once a year around Christmas for holidays. Plus, W2000 had to battle Microsoft Outlook every time.
