I frequently encountered this subject during my searches. However, I achieved 5800x at 90°C on a new build equipped with a Liquid Freezer II 280 top mount exhaust. In a Phantek P500A DRGB case, including three 140mm fans front and a Be Cool Wings II 140mm exhaust, I started it last week at 93°C in BIOS. After installing the CPU and adding the build into the case, reaching maximum fan speeds brought temperatures down to 90°C under load. Attempting undervolting on PBO only slightly reduced the temps to 85°C. Disabling PBO improved performance significantly. I typically work on my PC for 12 hours a day, then play for about 8 hours. With the liquid freezer, normal operation is around 50°C. Previously, running an Intel 1600AF at full load in Adobe resulted in a max of 55°C. Any suggestions for cooling would be appreciated. I’m also curious why the Liquid Freezer was set to exhaust on the top mount. I have three 140mm exhausts and three intake fans. Also, I’m using an Aorus B550 Elite V2 and two Samsung M.2 2070 Super drives.
Hey there! Here are your voltages for V core. The AMD Ryzen 5000 series usually heats up more, especially when idle, and some users have found updating the BIOS to a non-Beta version helps lower temperatures by a few degrees Celsius.
Similar to the previous setup, my 5800X runs with a Noctua NH-D15 cooler. A single Cinebench R23 test reached 87°C, even with a thermal pad in place. That's all I can say.
The 5800x model running at those extreme temperatures in the BIOS, paired with an Arctic Freezer ii 280, is facing major issues. The Arctic Freezer ii 280mm ranks among the top-tier AIO options available. It’s possible there’s a malfunction or improper setup. Verify the installation and confirm the pump is functioning correctly. With the 5950x drawing 210 watts in Cinebench only, achieving 80°C in an ITX case using an Artic Freezer ii 280mm AIO seems challenging.
I upgraded my Digi+ VRM to 4.7GHz and adjusted the clock speed. (Lost 0.1Ghz on one core but performance stayed the same) And lowered the temperature from 85°C to 65°C. The 5800X still has issues even with a good cooler—it spikes immediately and doesn’t cool effectively, using all available thermal space. I have two 360mm radiators and at default settings it remains at 85°C, while the coolant never exceeds 34°C (room temp is 28°C).
I tested cinebench in eco mode using Ryzen Master. It seems to be still reaching 88 c under stress, but it performs much smoother during lighter tasks, currently at 41 c—what a great improvement!
The temperature rise is significant at 5800x, much more so than 5900x. With just one CXX configuration, the heat dissipation becomes more challenging because the cores are packed more densely than when using multiple CXXs.
