After the board name, if it isn't ATX, and it's either iATX or iMAT, the lack of many boards comes down to outdated technology. This is because iATX boards offer fewer features, cost more to produce, and have limited expansion options. Adding custom components isn't possible since they lack PCIe X1 or X4 slots. Additionally, the motherboards are noisier due to higher RPM fans required for cooling, which increases sound levels.

I don't think so, compact gaming rigs do exist. Some manufacturers focus on building the tiniest cases while packing maximum features—it's really rewarding to design a system the size of a console but with incredible power.
