I attempted to set up Fedora 20 on my desktop following a thorough clean and Windows reinstall. My 64-bit CD worked, but the 32-bit one didn’t boot at all—though it seemed unusual. With the PAE kernel installed, I’m wondering if others face similar issues.

Is the CD functioning properly or does it seem damaged?

You're using a 64-bit Windows system but experiencing slow internet speeds for downloading Fedora 20 64-bit. You're confident with your tasks and have used the 32-bit version twice before, so you're ready to try again on a 32-bit OS.

Phenom II 965 is installed on a 64-bit Windows system. I believe it’s the correct version, but the connection is too slow to proceed further.

For a slower internet connection, consider employing a download manager and opting for a link that allows resuming. The 64-bit ISO file may have dropped during transfer, causing the browser to finish what it started with the data it had, resulting in an incomplete file.

That's accurate. I recently updated to a 64-bit version of Mint while using the desktop, and it functioned perfectly. (Driver support for Red Hat kernels was removed after version 3.13.)
