I received a 1TB 980 Evo SSD, but initially it didn't look like a genuine Samsung drive—it took about four hours to stabilize. After some adjustments, it stopped showing any storage space. I have a drywall screw securing it, though it’s not penetrating the PCB; instead, it’s just keeping it flat. The person who provided the motherboard removed the M.2 screw, which might be the issue.
It’s genuine, purchased from an actual shop. The product displays real items—specifically, a drywall screw. You have plenty of them, and there are no M2 screws. You’re not only driving screws but also positioning them carefully to ensure stability.
I'm keen to learn more about this drywall screw designed for an M.2 thread.
It's very possible the screw threads cut into the PCB layers and may have damaged a trace on the motherboard causing permanent damage. I don't know the keep away area around M.2 stud holes or if they're standardized. EDIT: looked at two of my boards, there's a metal insert set into the PCB itself under the threaded riser nut thing. Doubtful damage was done to the board traces. Maybe drive is just lose in socket?
I just had to change the format, man. Spent a lot of time on it.
