Someone on Reddit suggested that a Ryzen 7 3700X and a 2070S can handle 1440p at 144hz, though I’m a bit worried about the graphics card since it might struggle. I’ve heard the 2080 would be a big improvement over this setup, and for the processor, if AMD is solid or you consider overclocking an i7 9700K.
The entire RTX series received an update with the new RTX Super models. The RTX 2070S performs almost 10% better than the RTX 2080 (non-S). In general, the RTX 2060 is faster than the 2060S, which in turn is faster than the 2070, and so on up to the 2080 and 2080 Ti. Depending on game intensity, the 2070S is positioned as a suitable card for 1440p gaming.
This Ryzen chip is incredibly strong, especially when paired with another. It offers solid performance for most tasks. For reference, an Intel CPU costs around £350 with a base speed of 3.5GHz and 8 cores/threads. AMD’s version is £281, running at 3.6GHz with 8 cores/16 threads. It’s definitely worth considering—saving £70 while gaining double the threads could make a big difference, even if the single-thread speed is slightly lower.
