11700K vs 12600K
11700K vs 12600K
Choose a solid motherboard that offers great value. The MSI Pro B660M-A meets most users' needs and is available around $129, with WiFi options included. Skip the Z-boards unless you're serious about customizing the CPU, as doing so becomes increasingly challenging and less rewarding today.
Consider the 12600K as a strong foundation that lets you move up to the 13th generation later—truly impressive. You can also switch to DDR5, which fits well with your next project. In contrast, the 11700K is outdated and offers no room for future improvements. Also, skipping the Z690 for a 12600K is unnecessary; B660 will suffice.
Your total spending limit is clear, and I'm located in the United States.
You can secure a high-end Z590 board at a significant savings, though the 11700K will remain a limiting factor. The 12th generation offers a solid improvement over the 11th.
12th generation >>>>>>>> 11th generation. Also, 10th generation is better than 11th.
It depends on your specific needs, but I usually choose the 11th generation for its strong AVX512 performance since I often run emulated games. That’s why.
It seemed like a balance between cost and performance. I almost went for the 11700k but ended up choosing the 5800X3D instead, not entirely sure it was the right move... Intel usually releases new models quickly, which can be a bit confusing. Also, I didn’t want to upgrade to a 12th generation because I prefer staying on Windows 10, and those high-end cores don’t work well there, haha.
