11700k?
11700k?
Do you know when the 11th hen 11700k will launch from Intel? I noticed some CPUs for the 11th generation have already been released, and I’m planning to build a new PC in the coming months with a great motherboard. I’m considering a new ASUS TUG Z490 Plus with Wi-Fi, but I’ll hold off on the 11th gen if it’s less than six months away.
No official announcement exists regarding a launch timeline for Rocket Lake-S from Intel. The Tiger Lake architecture remains available exclusively in mobile devices currently.
The newly launched 11th generation processors were mobile devices. There are no leaks, not even an official announcement from Intel.
There's been no official roadmap that I'm aware of from Intel for desktop CPUs other than 10nm Alder Lake at the end of 2021. That'll probably be 12th gen though, with 11th gen Rocket Lake still simmering in the usual rumour sites as possibly coming out end of this year, or early next. I find it a bit of a tight gap between 10th gen Comet Lake and Alder Lake assuming the latter is not late. If Rocket Lake happens, it is expected to be a 14nm backport of Willow Cove, based on the same core as used in the recent Tiger Lake announcement. Emphasis would be "based on" since we don't know if they will have to cut some areas to make it work on 14nm as opposed to 10nm. It may not be as feature complete due to that.
This approach isn't the best for the overall setup. Right now the RAM and case are solid choices, but you should hold off on buying a CPU or GPU until you can observe more competition. The 4000 series Ryzen is expected to become a strong contender, and we're still unsure about AMD's GPU performance, so it's safer not to make a purchase just yet. Waiting a few months might help.
The mobile came out just when I needed it most, offering a 50% discount. My case arrived at the same deal. I’m not buying from AMD anymore because of their past problems. Just looking to save some money by taking advantage of good sales.
