1440p might offer a better balance. In 2015, 1080p seemed a bit outdated on bigger screens, but that depends on your priorities. I favor clear detail over flashy visuals, so high resolution with lower settings works best for me. If you're okay with less crispness and want the effects, 1080p is fine. Also, monitor costs are a factor—you can get a decent 1080p display now and upgrade later when 4K becomes more affordable.

There aren't any 1440p TVs available right now.

It's pointless if you need to run at low quality just to reach 60 frames per second

I stand among the rare voices who value resolution over anti-aliasing and ultra textures. I favor clear visuals over flashy effects. A 390 model runs smoothly in most 4K titles at medium settings, delivering solid frame rates. In fact, my fury x handles high settings well for most games at 4K with consistent performance.

Next year around Christmas I plan to purchase a new GPU (priced between 700-800€). Until then I’ll have to...well, endure it—I’ll watch it on TV, starting around 2m.

If you're looking to purchase a TV, opting for 4K would be ideal if your budget allows. You can enjoy older and lighter games with exceptional clarity at 4K resolution, while still having the flexibility to render newer, more demanding titles at 1080p on your 4K display. Navigate to the game's graphics settings and adjust the resolution to 1920x1080 in fullscreen mode. Of course, the image may appear slightly less sharp compared to 4K rendering, but it will still look similar if you had chosen a 1080p screen originally.

Adjusting for 1080p resolution on a 4K display appears identical to using 1080p on a 1080p monitor.

In theory it should work. 4K offers exactly double the width and height compared to a 1920x1080 display. This ensures that each pixel from 1080p aligns neatly into a square of four pixels on a 4K screen. As a result, there shouldn’t be any distortion, blurring, or general blurriness caused by using an incorrect resolution.

I own a 980ti and most AAA titles shine beautifully at full ultra settings, so I wouldn’t want to jump to 4k if it meant sacrificing quality. If I didn’t already have a solid 1920x1080 display, I’d likely settle for 1440p.
