1070 vs 1080 for my build?
1070 vs 1080 for my build?
I won’t be using more than one monitor and will keep the resolution at 1080p for another few years since there’s really no advantage in jumping to 1440p or 4K. I’m leaning toward the 1070 Strix non-OC model, but I might pick the 1080 non-OC version if it aligns with my plans! Thanks for the suggestions, and feel free to share any additional thoughts!
for 1080p at 144Hz it works well
for 1440p at 144Hz it also suits
n0ns3sss :
1080p@144hz 1070 would be ideal
1440p@144Hz 1080 would work well
I think a 1080 might manage more monitors better. Especially if he ever wants to split a game across two main screens in the future.
If the OP wants to use two monitors, a GTX 1080 would be preferable.
It's quite awkward though. I'd choose a 34" 3440x1440 screen for a wider field of view – the Dell u3415w costs $600 now.

i don't believe he's planning this right now, but you can't predict what might come later.
"EDIT: I do not plan on playing on more then 1 monitor and will stick to 1080p for another couple years because there is really no point in me going to 1440p or 4k. I think I'll be going with the 1070 Strix non-OC BUT I might choice the 1080 non-OC Strix if thinks go to plan!
Thanks for the ideas, if anyone has anything else to say please do !!"
I appreciate your guys help! Thanks
no need for the GTX 1080 for 1080p@144p
GTX 1070 will be much better.
As for the model, pick one that is closer to 400 as eventually they all perfrom the same.
EVGA 1070 SC black edition is like 420 - very quite and powerful card. My was running at 1960MHz before i touched anything.
