The performance gap usually isn't significant unless you're using a 4090 class card and playing at modest settings. Zen 5 offers a solid design focused on future needs, power savings, and cost-effective manufacturing. It seems better suited for mobile and server tasks. AMD aims to sell many EPYC CPUs, which can reach up to 128 cores. This highlights the importance of energy efficiency and heat management.

I understand your perspective, but there are many games that make good use of the 7800X3D without needing a 4090. For instance, Star Citizen performs better on a 7800X3D paired with a 4070 Super than it would on a 7700X plus 4090 at 1440p.

It's confusing though the 6870 wasn't a replacement for the 5870, which was the 6970. Everyone should focus on the pricing instead of getting caught up in details. Check the launch prices: 5870 at $399, 6970 at $349, 6870 at $239.

They've been conditioned to always aim higher, always improve. Every generation must surpass the last one. What's the point? Is it tradition? Just the natural flow of things? Why can't a person focus on just a few key areas and still excel overall? I'd prefer identical results with greater efficiency throughout the day. A vehicle offering the same power and performance as before, but improved fuel economy? Absolutely yes.

There are numerous unusual scenarios, particularly when focusing on lower percentages instead of average values, as these tend to depend more on cache capacity.

I really don't understand these negative reviews. Everyone claims it runs at 65W but then says it's not as fast as the 120W chip from Zen 4—like, really confusing. Turning on PBO and switching to 120W makes it seem like a big upgrade. It's impressive that there are only a few issues at 88% versus the old chip's 162%. Plus, could we rename this thread? Sounds like a scam. Not every claim about being "not literally the best" is accurate. You can actually get the whole platform for less than what Zen 4 offered when it launched—lower power, cheaper upfront, almost no issues? That’s a real advantage.
