ZEN 5 might be a fraud? :(
Hey tech enthusiasts, I'm feeling a bit let down after seeing so many reviews. The 9700X isn't just average compared to the 7800X3D—it's actually slower in some cases. It feels like it's underpowered, especially when we look at the der8auer video where PBO can help boost synthetic scores, but it doesn't really help with gaming performance. In fact, it sometimes lags behind the 5800X3D in certain titles. AMD might have room to improve it with microcode updates, but right now it seems like a rebranded version of the 7800X3D. What do you think?
It seems like people were expecting something different, but it turned out otherwise. This isn’t a scam after all. Why do we label anything as a "bad deal" as a scam? You’ve addressed your own concern. More effective solutions are possible. Not being the ideal fit for you doesn’t automatically mean it’s fraudulent.
The 9700x wasn't anticipated to surpass the 7800x3D. Wait for the X3D release if you're only interested in games. For other uses, those recent ryzens are quite solid and efficient. I’ll share what I mentioned in the previous thread.
Notice, excitement can be misleading too. There are many tech reporting channels on YouTube that exaggerate and spread inaccurate information from benchmark leaks.
It's not the case. Compared to others who hoped for better results, Leve1Techs appears satisfied overall. Underperformance doesn't equate to a scam. In fact, it could hurt AMD since they might sell fewer units than expected, particularly with Intel facing challenges.
Zen 5 matches the HD5000 in function but consumes approximately 10 watts less.
I'm not sure if anyone anticipated it would match the 7800X3D. There was optimism that it could compete or surpass it in certain titles, but the notion of it being consistently similar or superior was always a concern. Instead, we see only slight improvements, which isn't the worst AMD or Intel performance has ever been. Everyone seems to have moved on from Thuban to Bulldozer. The performance boosts (or lack thereof) are quite underwhelming. The claim that it reached "scam" levels is unrealistic. On average, it's just a few percent faster overall. A few games or apps show the 7700X is marginally quicker, but it stays within a small range. It's similar to Broadwell (Intel 5000 series), where it can be slower than more power-hungry chips, yet still efficient. If the 9700X is a scam, then what would the Core i9 11900K really be? That CPU actually performed worse on average than its predecessor in both games and apps, sometimes even slower by over 15%, while costing more and using more power despite having fewer cores. These mediocre results don't make it a scam.
According to AMD, they clarified that expectations should be adjusted: https://www.techpowerup.com/323529/amd-s...-at-gaming
These and DerBauer's assessments are among the strongest; many overlooked that AMD made Eco mode the default setting. Zen5 shows solid improvement overall, though the initial launch costs remain quite steep for AMD products.
