Hey there, I'm checking out options for a motherboard that fits the 13600k and G.Skill S5 DDR5 RAM setup. I need onboard WiFi and Bluetooth, and ideally it should come with everything already installed without needing a BIOS update. The Gigabyte Aurus Elite AX and MSI PRO Z790-P WiFi are on my list—whatever's more affordable would be great! Let me know if you have any tips. Thanks!

Avoid the standard MSI board version; their VRMs often lack proper cooling. If you need a gigabyte, consider the Aorus B760 Tomahawk MSI MAG B760 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard. PCPartPicker offers solid options for around 200 dollars. The Z790 model is also available from MSI for similar specs. ASUS models like the TUF B760 Plus and TUF GAMING B760-PLUS are good alternatives, all listed on PCPartPicker.

I’d avoid using it in one of the eight core chips such as the 13700K or 13900K, though it works well for the 13600K. This part doesn’t consume nearly as much power as its eight-core counterparts, and the VRM setup is more than sufficient. Moreover, the Z790-P Pro offers superior VRM compared to the B760 Tomahawk I suggested earlier. Regarding speed ratings, different boards support high-speed memory in varying ways, so choosing a specific speed bin can affect recommendations. Overall, for these two options, I’d lean toward the Aorus Elite—it’s simply a more capable motherboard at roughly the same price as the Z790-P Pro. If budget matters, the 13600K fits nicely on the Gigabyte Z790 UD AC or UD AX (whichever is more affordable), it’s essentially the Z790 Elite with a less robust VRM but about $50 cheaper.

It's 6000Mhz at CL 30—quite fast. The Aurus MOBO has some coil whine complaints, so I'm considering other options. The Z790-A WiFi is an alternative but costs a bit more. I'll check out the suggestions!

Thank you for the suggestions! I just want to note that any platform besides Z790 would mean I need to flash the BIOS, which adds extra work. The Z790 TOMOHAWK WiFi remains a strong choice.

B760 boards function without needing a BIOS update. I still wouldn’t suggest them—they’re priced similarly to Z790 boards but just as inferior, though I wouldn’t steer clear due to worries about an unknown coil whine update. Whine varies by specific board, so consider alternatives that lack reports of this issue while maintaining strong performance. Still keep the UD in mind for cost savings.
