Z490 vs W480 for i9-10900K?
Z490 vs W480 for i9-10900K?
Hey guys, So, W480 series is out and I am debating whether should I get W480 or Z490 for my i9-10900K video editing and rendering build. Do you think I will get more benefits from getting Gigabyte W480 Vision D motherboard over Gigabyte Z490 Vision D motherboard? Thank you!!
W480 works with both Xeon W series chips and 10th generation CPUs
Since you're getting one, choose an X490 for overclocking potential. The performance will remain similar, and the IO behavior is quite comparable.
They should function similarly, with one option supporting higher speeds. For software, I think Ryzen would likely perform better for most tasks.
W480 chipset doesn't allow overclocking, which is already a limitation. It provides ECC support when used with a Xeon, but Ryzen processors can handle ECC independently without needing a special chipset or CPU.
Z490 supports overclocking. W480 offers more SATA port options depending on your requirements. Z490 also has similar capabilities technically.
