Z390 motherboard with PWM 4-pin CPU cooler stuck at maximum speed and ignoring BIOS adjustments
CPU temperature stays within normal range, around 35-40°C at idle and 50°C during web browsing, and 80-90°C while gaming. The cooler isn't designed for this level of heat output. I attempted to adjust fan speeds via the header, but it didn't respond or control the fan at all. After reseating the header, no improvement was noticed. Eventually, I switched to using the system fan 1 header, which performed well. I modified the fan curve and BIOS settings, and it now adjusts smoothly—spinning down at idle and up under load. So I decided to skip the original header entirely. Oof.
