Z230 board under $20 or Hm81-k around $35

consider the Z230 at 20$ versus the HX81-K at 35$. your i7 4790 works well with both, but the HX81-K offers better performance and reliability. Since you're on a tight budget but want top performance, the HX81-K seems like the smarter choice.

The h81 should cost under $20, not $35. Check out better offers for h81/7 or b85 boards. Not sure about the z230, but prices match what you'd expect for a used non-Z1150 board.

Avoid purchasing both the C226 and H81 components, as they restrict PCIe speeds to 2.0. Consider a B85 board for better pricing.
