Your 2011 iMac's hard drive issue has been resolved by adding a new drive. The problem with the OS disc is likely due to compatibility. You can try transferring the installation media from your old MacBook using a USB drive, then reinstalling it on the iMac.

You shouldn't try to run an older Mac version on newer hardware because the required software isn't included in the installer. Get the latest supported Mac for your iMac, burn it to a DVD or flash drive, or look for a pre-burned disc on eBay.

I attempted but it still shows 24 hours left. It seems only 2012 Mac models and newer might work?

I believe you might locate a clean Mac OS 10.13.xx (high Sierra) version from the app store on another Mac and then modify it.

It seems like you're suggesting using Transmac to burn mac installers on Windows.
