YouTube seems to be targeting me now?
I'm just a casual observer of various YouTubers. When I watch videos, they consistently play at 1080p smoothly. Recently, loading started lagging and switched to 480p, but I can't manually adjust it since the app says only 480p or lower is available. I wonder if 1080p should be the default setting, as most people prefer it. Do others face similar problems? Or am I being penalized for using the YouTube app on Android with ads? Internet access seems fine, as I can download from Steam. What’s happening? Am I being treated unfairly? Am I being forced into a pirate situation?
Wait... 480p? I usually watch YT at 360p on my phone—it looks great on the small screen. In fact, it appears better than 1440p on a big screen. I always use my browser without ads; maybe it's just network or bandwidth issues. Probably around 99% of the time. I’d suggest using the Samsung browser, even if you don’t own a Samsung phone—it’s the best one with built-in picture-in-picture features, and it’s perfectly legal. Watching YT in the best way doesn’t automatically make you a pirate, lol.
No, I'm not watching a video with a maximum resolution of 480p.
This YouTube video initially confused me because it seemed to have lower resolution than claimed. I misdiagnosed the issue due to that. Actually, it supports higher than 1080p, but YouTube may hide advanced settings if buffering occurred. The best fix was restarting the device and everything worked properly.
