Hi, I'm trying to figure out what's going on. Over the past few weeks, whenever I watch a YouTube video randomly, it suddenly switches to HDR mode, making the colors too bright. I've already turned off HDR video streaming, so it shouldn't affect this. I'm wondering if others have the same problem or know what to do. I don't want to turn off automatic HDR, as it makes everything look a bit strange. I'm using Windows 11, Google Chrome Beta, YouTube through the browser, and an Asus ROG PG329Q-W monitor. Thanks for any advice!

Auto HDR in Windows HDR settings? This only impacts games, not Chrome or YouTube. Clarify what you mean and where this is being discussed. Please stop using it and check the updates. What graphics card are you using? For reference, I enable HDR in Windows and rely heavily on RTX HDR for video in the Nvidia settings. The display appears normal on my calibrated OLED.

I understand Auto HDR is meant for gaming and it functions quite well. In Windows HDR Settings you can enable HDR streaming. I own an Asus ROG RTX 4080 OC, and it seems odd when I switch HDR off—colors appear overly saturated. I keep it on all the time.

I turned on all the options and looked into Nvidia Control Panel settings. The RTX video enhancement feature might be set to off by default, I’m not sure what the default is. The HDR function is brand new in the latest drivers.

I activated this option, but it didn't resolve the issue. It also occurs with another browser, suggesting a problem related to my PC or Windows.

To completely turn off HDR, verify it's disabled both on the screen and in Windows settings. The display will already be configured for HDR. It's quite clever because turning on HDR in Windows might make the monitor switch to HDR automatically.

I turned off HDR now. It caused me discomfort when recording games and some support HDR, but otherwise everything looked poor in OBS. Perhaps try again when I get a new monitor. Thanks to everyone for the advice!

You need to set OBS up for HDR recording or adjust the tonemap to SDR. It involves some tweaking, but there are many helpful tutorials available.

In NVIDIA settings, change it to fullscreen (gaming) instead of windowed mode to fix the issue.
