Consider adding another SSD to the PC for a smoother dual-boot experience with Linux. This offers a more practical way to try it out without dealing with virtual machine issues.

The exam software aims to mimic the 1984 experience. It won’t function on Linux since it requires privileges that Linux doesn’t offer.

I’m not trying to switch to Linux just for fun. I’m in a technical course and believe it’s a useful skill for a software engineer. It only costs one 512GB SSD, which is expensive right now. I think I’ll go ahead with that. Appreciate the advice!

To use this comparison, I often notice performance cars with off-road tires and suspensions. They look impressive and feel exciting to drive, making them stand out. This mirrors why people might choose Linux—appeal and style matter. The downside is that such setups sacrifice fuel efficiency and overall performance on typical roads. They work better in challenging terrain like mud or gravel, but outside those scenarios they become a less practical choice. If you’re adopting this for the sake of it, be aware you’re compromising some functionality. Unless it still helps you get to work or school reliably, it’s probably not worth the trade-offs.
