I purchased a Ryzen 5 5500 to replace my older Ryzen 3 3200g. The rest of the configuration includes Windows 10 64x, Gigabyte AORUS B450 M 8x2GB DDR4 RAM, EVGA RTX 3050 XC Corsair VS600 600w with two SSDs and one HDD (boot drive on the larger SSD). I reviewed the support documentation to check if a BIOS update was necessary, thinking it wasn’t required. However, I was just a few versions behind and didn’t realize until the update failed. I changed the CPU, updated the BIOS, rechecked, and then rebooted to switch to the new one. Now the system freezes in the BIOS splash screen. It displays the Aorus logo with instructions to boot into BIOS Setup, then gets stuck on an American Megatrends splash screen. The motherboard indicator light remains stuck at VGA, suggesting a video problem. I’ve tried several fixes: removing the CMOS battery, waiting 30 seconds, changing RAM modules, disconnecting storage drives, reinstalling CPU and GPU. I’m very concerned because I can’t return the CPU due to my living situation, so it would be a waste of money. Please help quickly—I really appreciate it.

Check if your chip is a 5500G since there are separate BIOS updates for both 5000 and 5000G models.
