Just got Crysis 1 on PC and I’m really into the series. I never managed to play the original on decent FPS back then or a few years later. Now I’m trying it again with my FX 8350 OC at 4.5Ghz and GTX 970 G1 card, even though I think I can push it to its limits. But sometimes I hit 30s. Any tips or fixes? I’ve already solved the issue with the 64-bit launcher.

It seems like you're suggesting reducing visual quality. Would you like to lower the graphics settings?

In short, I struggle to play a 10-year-old game on a 970.

Not sure about this but since it's an older game it might not be optimized for multi-core, making your CPU the bottleneck as something like a 6700k would be much better for single-thread performance Also there's a saying "can it run crysis" for a reason.... in the screenshot you posted, it looks like the amount of grass being rendered is a little overboard..... that's probably a major contributor to the issue

Thanks! I'll test it on my laptop with a Core i7 at 3.1GHz and compare it to a friend's 6700k to check if the issue lies there.

It likely originated from a gaming community discussing whether the game could run on older hardware, possibly referencing Crysis.

Between 2007 and 2010 it was genuine, though I realized a 970 offers significantly more performance than a GTX 9800.
