Hey everyone, occasionally on Minecraft servers someone discovers my IP address and shuts off my Wi-Fi. This is happening again and it’s really bothersome. How can I stop this from occurring?

The issues here involve missing security settings on your router, a weak password, and an open management portal. Alternatively, if you're under a DOS attack and your Wi-Fi isn't working, you won't be able to access the internet until the attack ends. If other devices still connect, it suggests you're not being targeted by a DDoS attack.

You were targeted multiple times due to spam activity on your IP address followed by a message saying "bye internet."

That might be a short-term fix.

Probably a script kiddie running LOIC for kicks. Not really much you can do about it unless you have a beefy enough router to block packets without giving up. What I don't know is how someone would find an IP over Minecraft, since your IP is only available to the server.

Admins and mods, depending on the setup, can view players' IP addresses with the Essentials mod enabled. The server owner may also run a command to retrieve IPs when necessary (or if needed), or the admin might have Essentials permissions set incorrectly, allowing anyone to use the /whois tool.

It might just be the setup, but I’m not sure a server handling 500 players is set up badly. Or maybe someone is trying to mess with it, who knows?
