The space will have a mild toothpaste scent after setting it up. That’s completely normal—just focus on getting the necessary downloads and learning the Linux commands you’ll need later.

I regularly check Mint, so I’m ready to help with any specific questions—though there are many topics I can’t address (for instance, I don’t have a dedicated GPU here, so I can’t advise on driver setup). A useful suggestion would be that I personally find the Mint software center not very helpful, and installing programs through the command line via apt is simpler for me.

Sometimes it's unnecessary at all. For instance, a desktop setup connected to a network should only include devices you're confident about.

I perform these tasks during installations. Adjust settings via the bottom left panel, left column at the top. Choose Screen Saver, Settings – OFF, OFF, set duration to 30 minutes unless a password is needed to resume. Update options appear in the panel at the bottom right. Select Write, Calc, Notepad by right-clicking each and choosing Panel or Desktop. Customize desktop layout by going to Customize, disabling Auto-arrange for Links. Place links on folders like Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos from Home. Access the Home folder through the menu or Ctrl + M, then drag folders onto the desktop. Remove any “Link to” labels if desired. Adjust date format to international style using the settings at the bottom right. Modify time components and note position. Edit further by marking sections and using Ctrl+X to reposition, then Ctrl+V to paste. System settings Windows Tiling – OFF. Install apps such as Audacious, Chromium gThumb, VLC, LibreOffice, and Firefox. Add ublock origin for ad blocking. Join the forum at https://forums.linuxmint.com/

The usual terminal for MInt/Ubuntu works, yet Ghostty offers a superior experience.
