They cost the same in my area, the only variation appears to be the mesh setup or Wi-Fi 6 support.

Are you planning to increase your home size soon? If yes, mesh networking works well. Also, do you own many high-speed WiFi6 devices? Then having W6 connectivity would be beneficial.

Your home has a big space but only one Wi-Fi 6 device. It might seem straightforward, but there could be other factors to consider.

Both options perform adequately, yet for distinct advantages. The ASUS router offers significantly more networking capabilities, enabling users to tailor their network setup to personal needs. It also runs on AsusWRT-Merlin. Mesh systems work well as APs, but they aren't ideal for a dedicated router since they miss advanced features and often require a mobile app. Important to remember: Asus has recently experienced some router firmware problems. A major incident occurred in May when an update rendered the devices unusable for about two days.
