I'm evaluating two PC configurations within my budget:
Build #1
- 1 x AMD AM4 Ryzen 5 5600XT (6 cores, 4.7GHz)
- 1 x Thermaltake UX200 SE ARGB White CPU Cooler CL-P116-AL12SW-A
- 1 x Gigabyte AM4 MicroATX B550M DS3H AC DDR4 Motherboard
- 1 x Gigabyte RTX 4060 8GB Eagle OC ICE Graphics Card GV-N4060EAGLEOC ICE-8GD
- 1 x 32GB DDR4 Corsair (2x16GB) CMH32GX4M2D3600C18W 3600MHz Vengeance RGB Pro SL Ram Kit WHITE
- 1 x 1TB Crucial P3 Plus M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD CT1000P3PSSD8
- 1 x NZXT ATX H5 Flow RGB 2024 White Case CC-H52FW-R1
- 1 x 650 Watt MSI MAG A650BN 80+ Plus Bronze ATX Power Supply
- 1 x Integrated Sound Card
- 1 x Integrated WiFi
- 1 x Microsoft Windows 11 Home 64bit OEM DVD KW9-00632
Price: $1749

Build #2
- 1 x Intel S1700 Core i5 14400 10 Core CPU BX8071514400
- 1 x ASUS S1700 MicroATX PRIME B760M-A WIFI-CSM DDR5 Motherboard
- 1 x Intel Arc B580 Battlemage Limited Edition 12GB Graphics Card
- 1 x 32GB DDR5 (2x16G) Corsair 6000MT/s Vengeance CMH32GX5M2E6000C36 RAM
- 1 x 1TB Crucial P3 Plus M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD CT1000P3PSSD8
- 1 x Antec MicroATX CX200M Fixed Mode RGB Elite BLACK Case
- 1 x 650 Watt Antec CSK650 Cuprum Strike 80+ Bronze ATX Power Supply
- 1 x Integrated Sound Card
- 1 x Microsoft Windows 11 Home 64bit OEM DVD KW9-00632
- 1 x Integrated Network Connection
Price: $1659

Both configurations seem capable of running most games smoothly at 1080p 60fps, especially with high settings. They also appear suitable for future GPU upgrades without requiring simultaneous changes to other components. I reached out to the store, but they advised searching online instead. No benchmarks were specified—please let me know if you need guidance on what to check. Thank you for your assistance.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Your advice should follow the guidelines provided here; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice*. Initially, it's important to acknowledge where respect is owed—this adaptation comes from the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* post. I made it since many users are currently seeking upgrade tips both on this site and in the CPU forums, and I believe... forums. the community will offer helpful suggestions. I imagine we could run most games, new and old, smoothly at 1080p 60fps, especially with high settings—not extreme or ultra. What titles are we discussing? Would it be possible for my PC to upgrade the GPU in a few years without needing other parts replaced at once? How long do you consider this timeframe to be? Moved the thread from the PC Gaming section to the Systems section.

For improved upgrade possibilities, I would consider AM5, avoid dead sockets such as AM4 and LGA1700. I wouldn’t be purchasing an 8GB GPU at the moment.

Both versions perform similarly in games.
#2 has a slight edge in CPU and GPU speed.
However...
neither 650w power supply can handle a significantly more powerful graphics card later on.

Starfield, BG3, and Stellar Blade rank among the toughest titles on this list. Maintaining around 60 FPS is likely challenging, especially with older games such as Witcher 3 and Mass Effect. Although I’m not entirely sure about Intel’s graphics drivers for games like Witcher 3 and Mass Effect, the second PC equipped with an Intel graphics card stands out—it offers better performance in both CPU and GPU while being more affordable. For optimal support of older titles, it’s recommended to assemble a system with a more capable non-Intel graphics card. I suggest a build that excels in every aspect and delivers superior power. If you can acquire a 9070 XT (priced between $600–$700), a 9070 (550–650$), or a 5070 Ti (800+), you’ll be well-equipped to enjoy games for years without driver headaches from older titles. The 9070 XT offers the best value for its price.
