I need to refresh my motherboard after a long time with the ROG B550. I'm looking for the top AM4 option from ASUS to get the best AMD Ryzen 7 5700X performance. I currently have an RX 6600 GPU, an X570-E PSU, and use it for both work and light gaming. I plan to stay with this setup for at least three more years, so your advice would be greatly appreciated.

You're considering a motherboard upgrade, but it's unlikely to improve performance unless your current board is severely faulty—something that doesn’t seem to be the case here. The main justification would be if your existing board has a critical issue you haven’t mentioned, or if it’s missing certain features you need. AM4 boards are generally unnecessary for Ryzen processors since they don’t require high power draw, and you likely don’t need an extremely powerful setup. This upgrade probably represents a poor use of time and budget.

B550-F supports 5950X. Don't think about upgrading at all.

The top choice between the two? Dark Hero is excellent. It might seem excessive for a 5700x size, but it’s worth it. If you’re not using it often, it’s better to save and upgrade your budget later.

still functioning properly, though it fails to recognize my mouse even after purchasing a new one. The issue persists whether I bought the device or RAM recently.

Then share this about the issue with your mouse detection and RAM concerns, not about getting a new board. The B550-XE is quite costly, so swapping it out isn’t practical. I’d probably reach out to ASUS to request an RMA and get a replacement instead, since this situation shouldn’t occur.
