You're just starting out with PC building and facing challenges with UEFI setups on older motherboards. It sounds like you're trying to run a Windows OS from an SSD, but the system won't boot properly. You mentioned using an Asus H110T motherboard and a Sandisk x110 M.2 drive. The issue seems to be related to Secure Boot settings or UEFI configuration. Since you haven’t changed much in your hardware, consider checking the BIOS/UEFI options for disabling Secure Boot temporarily. Also, ensure your SSD is properly seated and try connecting it via a different USB port if possible. If the problem persists, consulting a more experienced builder or seeking community forums might help.

Did you verify the boot sequence in the BIOS and make sure the Windows installation drive comes before the USB device?

I recall facing a similar issue before—do you have additional storage devices attached? Also, was the device recognized during the BIOS setup? Secure boot likely isn’t relevant here.

Check for Compatibility mode in the boot or HD settings. I had to recall this today after updating the BIOS on my ASUS motherboard. The correct term is Compatibility support module, which should locate it within the UEFI BIOS instead of searching through options.

It was the CSM similar to what Technane mentioned. I believe it made it easier not to need an USB connection after rebooting. Thanks everyone. I’m excited to post this build on the forum once it’s ready.
