I've been facing frequent shakes and interruptions in my online games. My ping seems to fluctuate widely—sometimes hovering near 30, other times jumping up to 50 or even higher—especially during matches. For instance, if a server expects around 30 ping, I often see it drift between 40 and 70 throughout the game. I'm using a wired connection without any extra devices, and my connection shows no packet loss during these events. Despite this, I'm still unsure if the issue is due to network congestion or something else. My ISP hasn't been able to clarify anything, even though they claim everything is fine. The signal quality looks stable when it matters, but performance dips unpredictably.

The 40 to 70ms latency isn't that concerning compared to typical values. It might depend on the game or server you're playing. If it's consistently low, it could be related to the game servers themselves unless it's the same for every title, which would point to an ISP or router issue. A ping of around 30ms before joining is just your current connection speed at that moment and doesn't reflect your usual performance on the server. Factors like distance and network speed can influence this. Using a VPN might also affect the result.

It's completely normal for ping to fluctuate slightly, and these variations are actually typical. You won't always see a perfectly stable ping value—zero variation is unrealistic.

Verify if the instability stems from network problems or GPU performance. The latency remains acceptable despite brief fluctuations.

I don't think everyone grasps it fully—I get that ping shifts, but constant up-and-down counting leads to an unstable link with the server.
