That adapter seems outdated because it only supports 802.11N, which makes it inexpensive. For IT devices, you expect better performance and you're not getting much value from this one. It's likely causing the slowdown you're experiencing.

It really depends on the condition of your NIC adapter. If it's overheating, consider using a better USB adapter or swapping it out for a higher-quality one.
