I'm linking my 8bitdo sn30 pro+ controller to my laptop using a makeshift USB cable that feels subpar. I've kept using that cable for months without any issues. On July 2, I connected it to the left USB port and removed the battery. By July 4, while playing a game, the character kept shifting uncontrollably to the left when I moved it down with the controller stick. After quitting and restarting, it stopped moving. On July 7, another game caused the same issue—character drifted left without any input. Cleaning the controller with rubbing alcohol and setting a large deadzone helped on July 8, but the problem persisted. I suspected the stick had worn out or was drifting due to low power. Research suggested possible power distribution issues between laptop sides. It seems the left side of my laptop might not supply enough power, especially when using USB A ports that share limited voltage. Using a different port or cable could resolve this. What do you think? How should I fix it? You might want to upgrade to a higher-quality cable and connect it to the right USB port.
