It seems your boot manager is set up on the old HDD. When you mention formatting the Hitachi drive, do you mean just the partition was changed or the entire MBR/GPT table was wiped? For modern systems, it’s likely the boot partition (not C:\), which is reserved) was cleared. Check your UEFI settings to confirm the boot order points to the HDD instead of the SSD. You might try this approach to resolve the issue.
