I've been using the free Windows version with the watermark for a while now, but it suddenly disappeared. After installing my new 3060 Ti, the change only happened when I adjusted the side bar color. It's confusing—I'm not sure how to track when or where it was activated.

It's probable you were reset to the trial mode because of a hardware signature update, and it will be disabled within days.

Thanks for clarifying. I understand your concern. You were worried about unexpected charges.

Microsoft is collecting vast amounts of user information every day, facing strong competition from other operating systems. I believe they might eventually eliminate this data collection and provide spyware without charge.

Verify the configuration. It seems to confirm your Windows is activated, though the watermark might have been a temporary glitch. Similar issues occurred after a GPU change—watermark vanished but returned when the system stayed on. After shutting it down completely, the timer reset and provided another three hours without the watermark.

It confirms Windows 10 is active, but the watermark remains hidden. I suspect it could be because the same account was used by a family member who activated it. This seems unlikely, but I’ll check with them.

It might also mean the family member had a Windows activation key linked to their account, which triggered your PC to start automatically upon login.

It's likely you can't use any key from W7 to unlock Windows 10. Just check the official sources for confirmation.

It wouldn't come as a surprise, actually. It makes sense to ask someone familiar with Windows 10 Pro to do it for free.

Uncertain about Win7 or recent updates, but I managed to turn on my PC after installing it last year using an extra Win8 Pro key.
