Your USB 3.0 header will work with a USB 3.2 motherboard header.
Your USB 3.0 header will work with a USB 3.2 motherboard header.
The B450 TOMOHAWK MAX supports a 3.2 USB header, while your Define R5 has a USB 3.0 header. The 3.2 slot should accommodate both, so yes, it will fit.
USB 3.0 evolved through several versions—3.1, 3.2, and 3.1 Gen 1—each with minor changes. The naming shifted a few times. USB 3.2 Gen 2 needed a different connection type. The Fractal Design R5 supports standard USB 3.0 ports plus two USB 2.0 ports. If you're using the Design R5, the case and motherboard are compatible. Connect the four USB ports as follows: use one green-circled port for the USB 2.0, another for the second USB 2.0, and the remaining two for USB 3.0.
Check for a USB 3.0 header connection, see the file here: https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe...02v1.3.pdf
Confirmed, page 34 contains the header labels from the image in your post. Yes, enter your device's headers into these ports—JAUD1 for audio and JFP1/JFP2 for the other front panel connections.
Thank you for your note. I won’t compromise the motherboard USB connections since USB 3.0 is quite fragile. I’ll proceed with testing outside the case.
