I enjoy a few free-to-play games that I find enjoyable and engaging, and I'm curious about others' perspectives on what might be considered great free games. I'm open to suggestions, not here to judge if something works or not, just thinking it could be a fun subject. Perhaps I'll discover some titles I've overlooked, or games with similar themes. Right now, I've liked The Cycle Dauntless.
Genshin Impact (available on mobile and console) – Excellent experience even without spending any money. World of Warships (alternate console version) – Most enjoyable in moderation, otherwise it becomes a long grind; similar to Fall Guys, but better with friends. Goddess of Victory: Nikke (also mobile) – Originally a mobile title, now has a PC client. Gameplay feels basic but the story exceeded expectations; English voice acting is solid. Funny character animations, perfect for those who appreciate them. Watching Honkai Star Rail in its final closed beta; rumors suggest it could drop next month.
Hey Crossout fan! Remember when it first came out? It was awesome, but got a bit dull over time. Took a lot of effort to make it, and kept working on it for years.
Tekken Revolution (20k hours) Soulcalibur Lost Swords (5-10k hours) ^those were the times, everyone friendly, no "nerfs" etc... I just started playing Overwatch, good game, but i don't know it has a lot of staying power with me... there's a lot of issues for what is essentially a super simple shooter... weird, almost laughable monetization, odd seemingly mandatory "nerfs" that only seem to be done to make a handful of mostly toxic streamers happy... terrible matchmaking and way too many "vocal" players who are shit at the game but think they can judge what others are doing*... but its overall fun and i like the western anime take for sure, bold, but it seems to be working for them! (honestly wish it would have an optional 3D view though, the first person business is simply weird, even though OW does it better than others, somehow) *this is a fact btw, because actually good players will help where they can and not complain, in an *unranked* match mind you... (and there are definitely a few good players in this...) plus actually good players can basically turn the whole match, because 90% of the playerbase are or play like beginners lol ie, im new, but its the positioning that gives the player skills away, imo... yeah, its quite an interesting mechanic tbh. Also un-nerf Mercy!
For me, Genshin Impact is a stunning 3D RPG featuring cooperative gameplay, a wide variety of characters, gorgeous landscapes, an impressive soundtrack, and a rich story. While you can purchase items and upgrades, they aren't essential. The Gatcha mechanic feels a bit underdeveloped, but overall it's a finely crafted title that could easily surpass many AAA games. Beyond that, most titles resemble MMORPGs like Ragnarök Online. IGG also has several MMORPGs I enjoyed in the past. There are web-based games such as Astro Empires and Ikraim, which are mostly real-time online experiences. If you're interested, Steam hosts a few classic Flash games, and Ninja Kiwi has a collection of their titles. One might wonder if Flipline Studio offers their game on Steam, as they also develop cooking and fast-food games like Papa Louie Pizzeria.
