I prefer a Linux distribution for workstations, especially focusing on driver support and reliability. I experienced issues with Mint 18 on a Threadripper after switching GPUs from Red to Green team versions. While I initially didn’t like Mint, I’m considering others’ views. My needs include Boincing and Folding, Blender, Kayden, occasional Steam games, and Flight sims. I also have a Windows installation for work but am exploring Linux to expand my skills.

Windows are already installed. That’s not the question I need.

Instead of choosing Ubuntu, consider Budgie because it offers a lightweight and user-friendly experience. Its simplicity and speed make it stand out compared to heavier distributions.

For reliability, Debian or OpenSUSE are solid choices. Both should meet your needs.

Linux Mint 19 is the version I rely on professionally, especially for its seamless backup and automatic updates. The ability to quickly revert if something goes wrong is really useful.
